Question: A rectangular swimming pool is 6 ft deep. One side of the pool is 2.5 times as long as the other. The amount of water needed to fill the swimming pool is 2160 cubic feet. Find the dimensions of the pool.

Cool so the standard formula for volume

 

Is length × width* height

 

Let the length be x and the width be 2.5x

 

Your volume = 2160

 

Therefore, 

 

2160 = 2.5x * x * 6

 

2160 / 15 = x^2

 

 

X = sqrt 144 which is 12

 

So the dimensions of the pool would be 12 by 30 by 6
