The length of the flag of Australia is twice as the width. Find the dimensions of an Australian flag of its area is 18 ft^2

Area (A) of a rectangule is length (L) times width (W).  Therefore since the length is twice the width, the equation is written as follows:

 

A=L*W

A=(2W)*W

A=2W²

 

18=2W²

9=W²

3 feet =W 

Therefore; L= 2W = 2 (3) = 6 feet.
