Because it is the same, we will use the usual order of operations: PEMDAS (Parentheses, Exponents, Multiplication, Division, Addition, Subtraction). You would solve this like a similar monomial equation.  You might be over-thinking the problem because of the knot/degree symbol.

 

(2x+4)°+(2x+-9)°+x°=180°

 

2x+4+2x-9+x=180 

 

Simplify,

 

5x -5 = 180

 

5x - 5 + 5 = 180 +5

 

5x/5 = 185/5

 

x = 37

 

Plug in 37 to find all the degrees and check your answer:

 

(2(37)+4)°+(2(37)+-9)°+(37)°=180°

 

78° + 65° + 37° = 180°
