Hi Karen, let "x" be the amount Elliot saved, then 4 times more would be 4x. There are a number of expressions that could be created, but we really need to know a little more.

 

We could say:  4x + x, or the total money involved. 4x - x, the difference between what Elliot saved and 4 more times than he saved.
