division world problems

If a car travels 12.5 km on 1L of gasoline, how many litres of gasoline does it use when it travels 100 km?

Thanks. I just like to think of it in terms of a rate of something with respect to something else, and treat it like  a rate times time being equal distance. In this case, it is the rate of distance with respect to the amount of gasoline used. Again, your method is good using ratios. Moreover, it is good for a student to see how a problem could be worked out in a number of ways.
