Stamp Collection Word Problem

Elisa was going to sell all of her stamp collection to buy a video games. After selling half of them she changed her mind. She then bought twenty more. How many did she start with if she now has 50?

Suppose she started with x stamps.

She has x/2 after selling half the stamps.

Then she buys 20.

Her equation will be x/2 +20 = 50

x/2 = 50-20

x/2 = 30

x=30(2)

x=60

She had 30 stamps to start with.
