Some of the reasoning behind the answers given: They are totally correct. When there is a negative under the radical you can get rid of it simply by taking an i and putting it outside the radical.
√(-10) = i√(10)
That's why when it is √(4-104) it turns into √(-100) and then (i)(√(100)) and then 10i, since 10 times 10 is 100.
