Help! I need confirmation.

An empty basement with a level floor was flooded to a depth of 18 inches. When a pump was turned on, the water level decreased 1 1/2 inches during the first 50 minutes. At this rate, how many hours were required to pump out all of the water?

 

NOTE: I chose B 10 hrs.

A. 6 hr.

B. 10 hr.

C. 12 hr.

D. 22 1/2 hr.

Try setting a ratio of 50 minutes / 1.5 inches = x / 18 inches

Then cross multiply : 50*18/1.5 = 600 minutes total for all 18 inches. 600 minutes is 600/60=10 hours so you got it right.
