Consecutive even integers, by their nature, are necessarily spaced two apart. (For example, the consecutive even integers 10, 12, 14, etc). If x is the first even integer, then the next would have to be x + 2, and the last x + 4.
The sum of the three is then the sum of these numbers: x + (x + 2) + (x + 4), or 3x + 6.
