Hello,
Since there are 8 students, each student gets 1/8 of the available cake. Since there is 3/4 of a cake available, they will get 1/8 of 3/4.
Mathematically, we can find this by multiplying 1/8 and 3/4. To do that, we multiply the numerators together and the denominators together. This gives us (1*3)/(8*4) = 3/32 of the cake.

Thank you! That problem really got me stuck and I didn't understand because of the 3/4 because I just kept thinking " How could I split 3/4 with an even number of kids?" so thank you for the help01/08/19
