Hi Mitch,
We'll step through each conversion to get our answer:
1. (625 ft / 10 sec)(60 sec / min) =
(625)(60)/(10) = 3,750 ft / min
2. (3,750 ft / min)(60 min / hr) =
(3,750)(60) = 225,000 ft / hr
3. (225,000 ft / hr)(1 mi / 5,280 ft) =
(225,000)/(5,280) = 42.61 mph
The first two conversions were time unit conversions to go from seconds to per minute and then to per hour. The last conversion was a distance unit conversion to go from feet to miles.
Thanks for submitting this problem and glad to help.
God bless, Jordan.
