Hi Dylan,
We can solve this problem by setting up two equal ratios (also called a proportion) and then solving for our missing value (x):
2,352 students : 90 classes = x students : 1 class
Since the cross products of a proportion are equal, we now have our equation to solve for x:
(2,352)(1) = (90)(x)
90x = 2,352
x = 2,352 / 90
x = 26.13
x = 26 students per class
Knowing the concept of a proportion was the key to solving this problem.
Thanks for submitting this problem and glad to help.
God bless, Jordan.
