An easy way to do this problem is to assume there are 100 people in the class, therefore:

42 students passed the first test.

25 students passed both tests. 

 

This means that 25 of thode who passed the first test also passed the second test. 

 

To to find this percentage:

(25/42)x100= 59.5%
