write the equation of the line parallel to 3x-5y=-7 that passes through the point (2,4)

im not sure if m y answer is right. i tried the method for other question but my answer is really weird so i just wanna make sure if i did it right :)

Good news!  If the Standard Form of an equation of a line is Ax + By = C,

   then the Standard Form of all parallel lines is   Ax + By = D.

 

The point (2,4) identifies the specific parallel line immediately:

      3(2) - 5(4) = D

            -14 = D

 

The equation for the parallel line is:     3x - 5y = -14

solve for y

-5y=-7-3x

y= (7/5)+(3/5)x

slope is 3/5

the new line has the equation

y=(3/5)x+b

we need to find b. Use the values(2,4) in the equation

4=(3/5)2 + b

so

4-(6/5) = b = (14)/5

So the equation is y=(3/5)x+14/5 or 5y = 3x + 14
