Applying SImple Math to Everyday Life Activities
If we add up the number of people who picked a certain number of cherries, we will get a total of 19 people. This part is taken care of.
If 6 people picked 6 times, the total of 6 × 6 = 36 cherries were picked in this group.
4 people picked 5 times. 4 × 5 = 20 cherries picked in this group.
2 people 4 times. 8 cherries in this group.
3 people 3 times. 9 cherries.
2 people 2 times and another 2 people 2 times. This gives a total of 8 cherries.
Now we add the number of cherries.
Divide the total funds by the total number of cherries picked. This will give the amount each person gets per cherry pick. If the quotient has a remainder of ZERO, then the funds can be divided fairly.
