During an election campaign a candidate gave away 5000 advertisements. The pens he gave away cost $0.23 ea. and the bumper stickers cost $0.14 ea. He spent a total of $970.00 for pens & bumper stickers. How many pens did he give away?

Linear system of equations:

 

# of pens = P

# of Bumper stickers = B

 

.23P + .14B = 970

B+P = 5000
