p = starting number of people
2p/3, after first group left
(3/4)(2p/3, after second group left
(3/4)(2p/3) - 7, after third group left, that is = 62
(3/4)(2p/3) - 7 = 62
(3/4)(2p/3) = 69
6p/12 = 69
p/2 = 69
p = 138

My best quote: "With good people, a better process generally produces a better product."
Most people would agree that any document -- even e-mail or dialog box text -- is better if it is spell-checked. And, answers to math problems are characteristically better if they are checked. I'm simply improving the quality of the answer; it has almost nothing to do with the author.

Interesting. The quality (veracity) of a answer does not exist until it is checked. Sorta negates the role of following the proven mathematical procedures.
Oh, and nothing personal, your comment assumes that the solution was not checked.

Checking:
138/3 = 46 leave and 92 remain
Then 92/4 =23 leave and 69 remain
Then 7 more leave and 62 remain. Correct!
