a married couple had a combined annual income of 58,000. the wife mad 2000 more than her husband. what was each of their incomes

I just need to know the answer to this question for some hw assignment

Let the income of husband be X

The income of wife will be = X+2000

Combined income of couple will be= (X+2000) + X

                                                    = 2X+2000 

It is given that combined income of couple is = 58000

Therefore  2X+2000= 58000

                  2X = 58000-2000

                  2X = 56000

                  X= 56000/2 = 28000

Therefore Income of husband is 28,000

and Income of wife = 28000+2000= 30,000
