word problem.. do it with steps please

The length of a rectangle is 24 meters and the width is 7 meters. Find the measure of the diagonal of the rectangle.

Using Pythagoras:
 
72 + 242 = d2
49 + 576 = d2
625 = d2
±25 = d
 
The diagonal is 25 meters.

Asterly; If you want to visualize this problem then:
 
Draw a rectangle.  Then draw a diagonal from top right corner to bottom left corner.
What you are looking at now are 2 right triangles which share the same hypotenuse.
Thus applying the Pythagorean theorem of a2+b2=c2 (where c is the length of the hypotenuse
and a and b are the legs which create the right angle) is the way to work this - As Mark M has done.
