A school district purchases a high-volume printer, copier, and scanner for $38,000. After 10 years, the equipment will have to be replaced. Its value at that time is expected to be $3000. Write a linear equation giving the value V of the equipment during the 10 years it will be in use

The hardware decreases in value by 35000 over 10 years.

If we assume it decreases linearly, then it decreases by 3500 per year

Let y = the number of years the equipment is in use.

Assume   0 <= y <= 10
