Raul has to finish a 473 page book in a week. He decides to read the same number of pages each weekday and 30 extra pages on Saturday and on sunday. How many pages will he have to read on wednesday?

Let x = number of pages Raul will read on Wednesday. That's the same as the number of pages he'll read on Monday (x), Tuesday (x), Thursday (x), and Friday (x). He'll read 30 extra pages on Saturday (x + 30) and on Sunday (x + 30). Total, that should all equal 473. So:

 

x + x + x + x + x + x + 30 + x + 30 = 473

7x + 60 = 473

7x = 413

x = 59

 

Raul will have to read 59 pages on Wednesday.
