Applying SImple Math to Everyday Life Activities
We need to find out the distance the fence will cover to enclose the garden. Since we have a circle, the circumference will give us the circular distance. We are also given the area of the garden.
First, we will use the area to find the radius of the circular garden. Then multiply the radius by 2π.
Area = πr2
2290.22 = πr2
2290.22 / π = r2
√(2290.22 / π) = r
27 = r
The radius is 27 ft. Multiply this radius by 2π.
Circumference = (2r)π
= (2 * 27)π
= 169.65
The fence would need to be 169.65 ft long in order to enclose the garden.
