Volume question

Isabel wants to estimate the length, width, and height of her bedroom.  If her bedroom was empty the volume of her room would be 864 cubic meters.  Her bedroom's length and width are the same measurements but the height is half the length and the width.  What are the dimensions of Isable's bedroom?

The volume of a cube is height x width x length.

We know that length = width = constant (c)

height = 1/2c

volume = c*c*c*(1/2)=c³/2 = 864

c³=1728

c=12

 

So the length and width are 12 meters, whereas the height of the room is 6 meters.
