The trick to finding the area of a parallelogram is to remember it is really just two triangles. The area of a triangle is ½ BH. If you add the area of triangle 1 and triangle 2 this will give you the area of the parallelogram. This will help you if you get stuck on a test. The actual formula for the area of a parallelogram is A = bh. The same holds true for a trapezoid. The actual formula for a trapezoid is A = 1 /2 h( b 1 + b 2 )
