Math, microeconomics or criminal justice
7= 7000
7 x 10^3 = 7,000
1st digit is 10^0
2nd digit is 10^1
3rd digit is 10^2
4th digit is 10^3
7 is the 4th digit to the left of the (implicit) decimal point,
so 7 means 7x10^3 = 7,000
Hi there,
As a note, the place values increase by 10 times as you travel to the left in a number.
For example,
1234 :
4 is in the ones place
10 times 1 is 10 so the 3 represents 10x 3 or 30
10 times 10 is 100 so the 2 represents 100 x 2 or 200
10 times 100 is 1000 so the 1 represents 1000 x 1 or 1000
This would continue on for as many place values as needed.

These types of questions can be tricky. I like to first write out what places I have in my number so from right to left we have the ones place, then the tenth place, then the hundreds, then the thousands, then the ten thousands. Now if we fill our numbers in we have 8=ones place 2=tens place, 5=hundreds place 7= thousands place, and 4=ten thousands place.06/12/25
