How do I prepare for the AP French exam?

Preparing for the AP French exam means practicing all four skills: speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Familiarize yourself with the exam format and practice with past tests to manage your time. For speaking, practice responding to prompts using varied vocabulary and clear pronunciation. Improve listening by engaging with authentic French audio like podcasts and news. Read diverse materials—articles, stories, and editorials—to build comprehension and vocabulary. For writing, focus on essays and emails, using correct grammar and transitions. Regular vocabulary review and timed practice will boost confidence and performance on exam day.

I do agree that you need to familiarize yourself with the exam by practicing taking some of the tests. It would also help (time-wise) to have an experienced tutor share real-time feedback on your answers within each section and provide customized exercises, like "dictees". The results would help you improve your spelling, grammar, and writing, which in turn, would help in all the areas of the exam: speaking, listening, reading, and writing. If you prefer to study on your own, however, reading and writing extensively in French before your exam should help, as well as listening to French tv or radio shows.
