A student should certainly have access to remedial, on-level, and advanced or enriched learning with a tutor. I believe that progression through the topics should happen in that fashion. Many errors and mistakes can happen from a misunderstanding previously. Allowing remedial support will ensure a student is prepared for on-level and above problems within that topic. Sometimes the lack of remedial support can hold a student back from excelling at enrichment problems.

This really depends on the student as well as the topic. When I am working with students I like to listen to their reasoning to determine what they need. If a student is showing little understanding or a lack of confidence they would need remediation on the topic. If they are showing a beginning understanding, they would need some more practice. As they move toward mastery they can use enrichment or problems that help them connect to other topics.
