You can also use the proportinn method which works for all types of percent problems.
Percent/100 = Is/Of
In thsi problem we don't know the percent (use an x). "Of" is 5 and "Is" is 9. Not necessary to convert result to percent, as the 100 in the denominator does that automatically.
So x/100 = 9/5 v solve by cross-multiplyiing as usual
5x = 900 x = 900/5 = 180%
All percent word problems can be converted to an "Is" "of" format. THen you can just plug the values into the proportion.
