You can also apply to colleges that are known for and have historically met the 100% financial need of students and their families.
You can also apply to scholarships, both institutional scholarships (students are usually considered for these automatically as they are based on athletic ability, merit, academic achievement, etc.) and external scholarships. External scholarships can be found using various scholarship search websites such as scholarships.com and FastWeb to name a few. There are a ton of different scholarships out there catered to different student abilities, demographics, etc. Scholarships can range from being left-handed to being of Asian American descent. Different companies also offer scholarships such as Coca-Cola, Taco Bell, etc. Please also feel free to ask your student’ school or guidance counselor if they recommend any specific ones or that your student be considered for any scholarships offered by the HS.
There are also some larger known scholarships, such as QuestBridge and POSSE, catered to high performing students of diverse populations who experience financial/economic hardship.
