If the area is decreasing at the rate of 6.75% per year, then A, the area in 9 years, is:
A = 4000(1 - 0.0675)9 = 4000(0.9325)9 = 2132.55 km2

Math, microeconomics or criminal justice
4000-9(6.75)=4000-60.75
= 3,939.25 km^2 in 9 years,
if area decreases by 6.75 km^2/year
but if area decreases by 6.75% per year, then
annual rate of change = -.0675
A = 4000(1-.0675)^9
= 4000(.9325)^9
=2132.551636 km^2 in 9 years
or
A=4000e^.0675(9) = 2178.84 km^2 in 9 years, if continous decay
