Touch typing is a great skill to have these days! The ability to type using all your fingers, without looking at the keyboard is a very valuable skill for writing papers, taking notes at a much faster rate, and allows the ability to produce and edit text much faster. It also ensures that finished work has a greater level of accuracy.
For students or employees, it means a better work experience, and more time available for other tasks. Typing speed increases from two-finger typing (at about 20 words per minute) to 60+ words a minute using the "touch type" method. The individual and their employer, for example, will save a great deal of time and money.
