asked 12/03/23A 200 kg load is hung on a wire on length 4.00 m, cross-sectional area 2.00 x 10-5 m2, and Young's modulus 80.0 GPa. What is its increase in length (in millimeters)?

Dr Gulshan S. answered 12/04/23
Physics Teaching is my EXPERTISE with assured improvement
Youngs Modulus = Stress / strain
Stress = Force / area of cross section
Strain = Change in length/ Original length
Force = Mass*g =200*9.8 N
Original length =4m
Area =2.0*10 -5 m2
Y = 80.0 *109 Pa
Plug in to get Change in length in m
Then change in mm
