There are 1.67 moles of carbon-12 atoms in 20.0grams of carbon-12. 12 grams or the molar mass tells you the mass of one mole of that element, in this case carbon-12. If we are given 20 grams of this element then we simply divide 20/12 to get the number of moles. Hope this helps!
