You drop a ball from rest while your friend throws a second identical ball horizontally from the same height as you. Neglecting air resistance, which ball hits the ground first

B. They both hit at the same time

They will both hit at the same time. This is because both balls have the same mass and are undergoing the same acceleration towards the earth. The reason the horizontal throw does not matter is because that does not add any force/acceleration down. It only moves it in the horizontal. Hence, while hall 2 will go further in the x axis, it will still land at the same time
