a) Clockwise;
τ(block) = 500 x 4 = 2000 Nm
τ(rod) = 100 x 3 = 300 Nm
So the total 2300 Nm of torque is supported by the cable's vertical component.
2300 = Tsin60 x 6
T = 442.6 N (Counterclockwise)
b) Horizontal component N(Horizontal) is equal in magnitude to Tcos60 =~ 221.3 N
Vertical force on the hinge, N(vertical) + Tsin60 = 600;
N(vertical) = 600 - 442.6 = 157.3N
