The force exerted on an object is equal to its mass multiplied by its acceleration. So in order to solve this question you must first calculate acceleration which is the change in velocity divided by time. The change in velocity is 8.5 m/s since the ball started at rest and it’s final speed is. 8.5 m/s and the time is given as .30 s. Therefore acceleration=(8.5)/(.30)= 28 m/s^2. Now that we have that we multiple the acceleration we found by the mass given in the question to find force as follows: F=(28)(.43)= 12 N
