(8x^2 -12x -37)/(4x+6) has vertical asymptote: x = -6/4 =-3/2, the x value that makes the denominator=0
to find another asymptote take the ratio of the leading terms of numerator & denominator y=8x^2/4x
y=2x
which is diagonal, not vertical or horizontal
a little more vertical than a 45 degree line with the x axis
call it the "slant" asymptote
