If the waves are in sync, the crests and troughs match correspondingly, and constructive interference will occur. And for the opposite, when the trough matches the crest of another and vice versa, this will cause destructive interference.
The Doppler effect refers to additional velocity with the wave, for example, a truck moving while playing music or blasting a horn. This causes a change in the pitch.
The beats of a wave refer to when your clashing waves have two different frequencies, causing periodic constructive interferences and periodic destructive interferences, visually representing a repeated "football" shape in the wave pattern.
The timbre of a wave can be visualized by how "pure" the wave pattern is, so a precise sine wave pattern versus a fuzzy sine wave that has spikes along the overall sine path.
