A 48.5 kg car is towed up a hill at 15.3◦ to the horizontal. The tow line exerts a force of 138 N on the car. The car starts from rest at the bottom of the hill, no friction. Use 9.81 for G. How fast is the car going after moving 82.8 m up the hill?

The net force with + being up the hill is F - mgsinθ which is equal to ma from Newton's 2nd Law. The mgsinθ is the component of mg parallel to the incline.

a = F/m - gsinθ

Now that you know a and you are given v(t=0) = v₀ and d up the incline, you can solve for v using

v² = v₀² + 2ad or v = sqrt(2ad)
