If segment CB =7x-3 and segment BD =3x find AC

CB is a radius and so is BD. AC is a diameter

Since CB and BD are both are radius and they have to be equal to each other so we can write an equation

 

                 CB  =  BD

  7x - 3 = 3x

-3x         -3x

 

4x - 3 = 0

    +3   +3

 

4x/4 = 3/4

 

x = 3/4  or 0.75

 

Now we know that the radius is 3/4

 

 

Diameter is twice of the radius so,

 

d = 2r

 

d = 2(3/4)

 

d= 6/4

 

d = 3/2 or 1.5

 

 

Hence, 

Diameter is 3/2 or 1.5
