A phone company charges for service according to the formula: c(n)=18+0.02n, where n is the number of minutes talked, and c(n) is the monthly charge, in dollars.

Your rate of change is 0.02 dollars per minute, where n is the number of minutes.

For example if it takes 1 minute, then the total cost will be;

c(1) = 18 + 0.02(1) = 18.02 dollars.

and if you talked for 5 minutes

c(5) = 18 + 0.02(5) = 18.1 dollars.
