After researching the current CDC guidelines and some additional clinical decision support tools, I found the following literature to answer your question.
"Although individuals are eligible to receive a bivalent booster dose at least two months after their last vaccine dose, the optimal timing after this interval is uncertain. We suggest that individuals who have immunocompromising conditions or would otherwise be at high risk of severe disease (eg, because of multiple medical comorbidities) receive the booster as soon as they are eligible."
In summary: high-risk patients should receive their bivalent booster as soon as they become eligible at two months after their previous dose.
