The angle of depression of an object refers to the angle whose initial side is a horizonal line above the object and whose terminal side is the line-of-sight to the object below the horizontal.

From a fire tower 200 feet above level ground in the Sasquatch National Forest, a ranger spots a fire off in the distance. The angle of depression to the fire is 2.5º. How far away from the base of the tower is the fire? Round to the nearest foot.

Sophia, I have a suggestion. Consider taking a picture of some of the work you have attempted (or at least explain what you have attempted). There are a few ways to make a picture available to WyzAnt Ask an Expert. Here is one way. Visit Desmos.com and use the Image option. Then post the link to your graph. Here is an example: desmos.com/calculator/ofjkihufzb If you have questions about using the Image function, there is a user guide under the ? in the upper right hand corner (or post a comment here).

Here is an example of what you might try. I used the Desmos Online Demo room, copied in some stuff (related to this problem), drew a diagram, did a screen capture, then went to Desmos and copied the image from my desktop. desmos.com/calculator/amt5v3dzeh
