How to Find Tension

Question

A 1-kg bird sits on the middle of a clothesline whose supports are 10m apart. The clothesline sags by 1m. If the weight of the clothesline is negligible, find the tension on it.

Since the bird is sitting in the middle, you can find the angle that the clothesline rope makes with the horizontal using right angled triangle. Then you can find the y component of the tension force from both right and left side of the rope.

If you add these two y components, it should be equal to the weight of the bird. When you solve this equation, you will get the tension. It would have been easier to show this with picture, but I did not see the option to draw here.
