The lines are "Iambic Senarii". Iambic senarii consist of six iambs |u -|. The iambs, with the exception of the last one in a line, can be replaced with any of the following feet: A dactyl |u - -|; a spondee |- -|; an anapest |u u -|; and sometimes with a tribrach |u u u|. The last foot of an iambic senarius must be an iamb.
