asked 10/31/22two people (person A and B) are pulling on a sign with strings. Person A is pulling with a force of 5N at an angle of 100° from the positive x-axis and person B is pulling with a force of 2N at an angle of 0º from the positive x-axis.
If person B were to lift his string a little (let's say 5-10º from the positive x-axis) what would happen to the force of A's string? (string A's angle would not change)
Would it decrease, Increase, or stay the same, or would it depend on what the force of B was pulling when its string is situated at a higher angle?
I thought that it would decrease because string A would have to use less force to sustain the weight of the sign. And in a lab we did in class we realized that the smaller the angle is between two strings the smaller the forces of them would be.
However, I feel like my reasoning is lacking and therefore I'm unsure if my answer is correct.
