Because P (x,y) is on the unit circle, it obeys the formula: x2 + y2 =1
x2 + (3/4)2 = 1
x2 = 1 - (3/4)2
x2 = 1 - 9/16
x2 = 7/16
so x = ± √(7/16)
Now, you're told the x-coordinate is negative; therefore x = -√(7/16) which means x = -square_root(7)/4
x = - square_root(7)
