What initially drew me to the trombone was the slide - it was different than the other brass instruments, and I thought that it could be fun to play! What kept me on the trombone was the solo and orchestral literature - whether I'm playing a soft and lyrical piece, such as the first section of Jongen's 'Aria et Polonaise', or a powerful piece such as the fanfare of Dvorak's 'New World Symphony', I love how much character the trombone can portray!
