This depends on the equation of the function being transformed. A left shift will add to the value of x. EX. x² changes to (x+7)^2.

A vertical stretch would multiple that function by the factor so (x+7)² changes to 3(x+7)².

And a down shift subtracts from the function. EX 3(x+7)² changes to 3(x+7)²-8.
