Find the perimeter of ABCD

Question

Find the perimeter of the polygon formed when these points are connected;

A (3,4)

B (3,1)

C (8,1)

D (8,4)

Perimeter = ___ units

If you plot the points you'll see that they form a rectangle with vertical side of 3 ( 4 - 1) and horizontal side of 5 (8 - 3).So the perimeter is 3 + 5 + 3 + 5 = 16. Another tutor answered this same question earlier using a much more complicated method and got the same result.
